| Display and Disposition of Flags Flown Atop the State House |
Raising and lowering of the flags atop the State House is the responsibility of the Facilities
Management State House Maintenance Team. The United States and South Carolina State
flags are flown continuously and removed only in special situations and/or
when the flags become faded or frayed. Upon removal the flags are folded, provided a
certification and packaged to be mailed to requesters on a waiting list.
Interested individuals desiring a flag can call or write the offices of Facilities Management for
further details on how to receive one or more of these flags. At this time, the waiting period for
a U.S. Flag or S.C. State Flag which has flown atop the dome of the State House is 2-3 years.

| Recycling |
Facilities Management's Custodial Team has been recycling for state agencies for
many years. Presently they utilize the services of the S.C. Department of Corrections and the
City of Columbia to recycle mixed paper and telephone books.
The S.C. Department of Corrections and the City of Columbia pick up recycling materials
from most Budget & Control Board, General Services buildings twice a week and
provide excellent and reliable service at no charge. Some agencies choose to coordinate
recycling efforts for themselves even though they may occupy Budget & Control Board buildings.
