State Fleet Management has led the way in promoting the purchase and use of alternative
fuel vehicles as required by federal EPAct92.
Since 2001, state agencies have been obligated
under this Act to purchase 75% of qualifying light duty vehicles as AFVs.
One of the obstacles to widespread use of AFVs has been the scant availability of alternative fuels. In 2002, SFM published a
study of available alternative fuel resources in South Carolina.
The study identified these resources by type.
